Job description: We are looking for an organized Transportation Coordinator to manage the shipment of items from the shipper to the consignee. The transportation coordinator ensures that freight is picked up and delivered on time.
To be successful as a transportation coordinator you must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. A good transportation coordinator is in constant communication with various role players in the shipping process.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and select reputable and safe carriers for freight services.
- Provide customers with shipping quotes.
- Book loads with carriers.
- Maintain records of dispatched calls, driver routes, route changes, as well as delivery and pickup times.
- Track status of loads from beginning to end.
- Record all shipment details in the computer system.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in business management, logistics or a related field would be a plus.
- Prior experience as a transport coordinator or a similar role is a plus but not required.
- Must understand the importance of and practice an extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to problem-solve.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Computer literacy skills.
