Definition of Class
This position installs, terminates, and tests telecommunication wiring. This position works under the close supervision of a Telecommunications Technician, who makes verbal work assignments, provides specific and detailed instructions on all but routine and repetitive tasks. Work is reviewed in progress to ensure compliance with instructions for overall adequacy. Incumbent may perform simpler tasks alone, or with minimal direction.
Examples of Work Performed
- Installs, terminates, and tests telecommunication wiring.
- Installs wire for data and voice communications.
- Installs coax cable wire for video.
- Installs jacks, patch panels, and 66 blocks to wiring.
- Reads and follows simple schematic and block diagrams.
- Operates common hand tools.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or assigned.
Essential Functions
These essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following. Additional essential functions may be identified and included by the hiring department. * Installs voice, data, and video wiring and supplies.
Minimum Education/Experience
Education:
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED).
AND
Licensure:
Valid Driver’s License
