POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Transportation Analyst is responsible for supporting retail operations within the Transportation team. The Senior Transportation Analyst will oversee the management of core carrier relationships develop and improve best practices and lead critical projects within the outbound team. Core responsibilities include supporting RFPs, managing, and developing transportation team members, leading continuous improvement projects, and managing critical KPIs to drive compliance.
CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee a high-performing team of Transportation Analysts. Clearly communicate vision and priorities, drive strong engagement and lead team in delivering exceptional results.
- Oversee the management of carriers to ensure their performance and capacity perform to target. Identify opportunities with operational inefficiencies with existing carriers, solution and device clear plans for improvements delivering cost savings and/or service improvements
- Collaborate with MP&I, Inventory, S&OP, SCO, DC Operations to meet retail store demands.
- Manage shipment exceptions, shipment prioritization, direct to store and expedited shipments
- Lead the team in quickly resolving service challenges.
- Proactively identify trends and industry shifts to drive strategic business decisions.
- Communicate data insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner using presentations, visualizations, and reporting documents
- Produce KPI reporting for outbound activities including supporting monthly/quarterly carrier/vendor reviews.
- Participate in and lead transportation-related projects and help design the transportation strategy
- Analyze data to develop actionable metrics to measure performance, trends, growth, forecast and cost.
- Monitor initiatives against benchmark metrics to pro-actively highlight areas of opportunity and improvement.
- Prepare executive-level reports and presentations to support vendor meetings
- Play an active role in the execution of Request for Proposal (RFP) process from data collection through contract execution.
- Run reports and analyze impact of vendor rate/service adjustments and vendor comparisons.
- Identify, justify, and present continuous improvement plans to management, for increasing efficiency, reducing costs, and improving service.
- Escalation point for when Transportation Manager is out of the office.
- Complete ad hoc assignments as needed.
REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:
- BA/BS degree in Logistics or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ hands-on experience working in the transportation industry with progressively increasing responsibility, to include outbound final mile deliveries.
- Skillful negotiator with strong ability to influence.
- Knowledge of ERP and BI tools. Hands-on experience with SAP and Tableau, a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.
- Ability to analyze large subsets of data using Microsoft Excel shortcuts/VLOOKUP/formulas/macros/pivot functions required (Advanced Excel skillset).
- Knowledge of North American transportation industry, best practices, regulations, and terminology.
- Strong analytical skills required.
- Hands-on experience using E2Open or similar transportation management systems (TMS).
- Proven experience managing carrier relationships.
- Highly skilled in leading projects, including strong organization and time management
- Self-motivated and able to manage by exception
- Customer and solution oriented
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with people at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with Project44, a plus.
- Experience in the retail industry, a plus.
- Resolve conflicts/discrepancies positively and professionally
- Advanced skills in the following areas: communication (oral & written), interpersonal, analytical, reporting, organizational and project management.
- Willing to be part of rotational weekend on-call schedule.
- Willing to support after-hours operations on an as-needed basis
- Knowledge of external carrier / supply chain market conditions
- Detail-oriented team player with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
