POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transportation Sr. Analyst plays a crucial role in executing all activities related to the planning and scheduling of inbound collect shipments into Ulta’s DCs. They are responsible for ensuring cost-effective order planning while maintaining a high level of service. The role focuses on process improvement through analysis, identification, documentation, and implementation. The Transportation Sr. Analyst collaborates closely with carriers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional partners to address challenges and develop innovative solutions to meet business needs. Additionally, they oversee and manage multiple transportation-related projects and deliverables while accurately reporting progress up to leadership.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze shipments to optimize modes and identify consolidation opportunities.
  • Coordinate with MP&I to achieve natural consolidation opportunities by origin.
  • Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional partners to troubleshoot pain points and develop innovative solutions.
  • Oversee and manage transportation-related projects, ensuring successful project management from initiation to completion.
  • Seek continuous improvement by improving current processes.
  • Participate in transportation-related projects and support the transportation strategy.

Load Planning and Shipment Coordination:

  • Load plan and tender inbound collect shipments using Ulta’s TMS platform.
  • Work with vendors and carriers to schedule delivery appointments to Ulta’s DCs in a timely manner, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Assist vendors by facilitating BOL generation and providing transportation knowledge.
  • Support internal partners with shipments that require manual intervention, not processed through SAP.
  • Support manual shipments, including RTVs, RTDCs, and DC-to-DC transfers.
  • Communicate late deliveries to DCs.
  • Train DC personnel on transportation-related activities.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze shipments to optimize modes and identify consolidation opportunities.
  • Pull data for all inbound metrics to support business needs and QBRs.
  • Create and deliver presentations to relevant stakeholders.

Vendor and Partner Management:

  • Collaborate with carriers, suppliers, and internal cross-functional partners to troubleshoot pain points and develop innovative solutions.
  • Partner with carriers to ensure their capacity meets Ulta’s demands.
  • Escalate shipments as needed with DC partners.
  • Manage 3PL projects, including inventory write-on for 3PL and stores, and inventory maintenance for inventory transitioning from 3PL to stores.
  • Manage tracking of all GWP containers for DCs and 3PLs.
  • Manage deliverables and communications for all 3PL projects.
  • Manage high-value and critical brand partner shipments.

Process Improvement and Documentation:

  • Create, document, and maintain SOP documents for multiple areas within transportation.
  • Seek continuous improvement by improving current processes.
  • Participate in transportation-related projects and support the transportation strategy.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a logistics/distribution/supply chain environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP and TMS is required. Must be comfortable learning new software.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • SmartSheet skills are preferred
  • Strong analytical skills are required.
  • Previous experience in managing vendors/carriers is preferred.
  • Experience in process improvement and best practices is preferred.
  • Self-motivated with strong organization and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to evaluate situations and make informed decisions.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills preferred.
  • Ability to match appointments to DC capacity and operational requirements.
  • Ability to communicate with vendors, carriers, and DCs over the telephone and Teams meetings.
  • Maintains a professional image in person, on the phone, and in writing.
  • Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends when needed.
  • Flexibility in daily task assignments as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office demands (hybrid remote, Bolingbrook IL)
  • 10% travel
