Overview:
In this role, the Engineer will own projects to evaluate and evolve methods for Monarch system level and robotics/algorithm performance. Duties include testing development, validation, and DV across programs within the Monarch R&D organization. Owns key performance test methods, serves as SME on device performance, and assumes responsibilities as required in the following areas on development teams: test model development, test method development, design candidate evaluation, requirement testability and substantiation, investigation of failures, and tackling of poorly understood risks, performance shifts, or product robustness.
For this role, the team is looking to find an individual preferably with experience in scripting, data analysis, automation, and product software for complex electromechanical devices.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Develops tests for product development or design verification, including test design, electromechanical fixture development, bench model development, and script development.
- Performs retrospective data analysis to identify trends to drive investigations or product design/test strategy improvements
- Serves as an SME for standard methodologies in test case design and test execution
- Performs root cause investigations and designs / executes experiments as warranted to address DV failures and other performance observations, or in support of other product development needs.
- Owns and maintains test case content
- Performs test method validation / MSA and non-product software validations for all design verification tests
- Writes and executes design verification and engineering test protocols; analyzes data and authors test reports
- Collaborates with development team on design input clarity and testability
- Collaborates with development team on algorithm and feature development and de-risking.
- Applies statistical and problem solving (e.g. fishbone, 5-whys, DMAIC principles) analysis methods in any investigation / experimental work.
- Other related duties as needed may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, EE, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent required. Masters degree in equivalent discipline a plus.
- Minimum 2 years or more hands-on experience in the medical device industry, in an engineering function; experience with complex electromechanical systems with medical device software preferred
- Proficiency with Python is required. Proficiency with additional languages / platforms – e.g. Matlab, Labview, C, Linux OS, Qubole – preferred
- Prior experience with complex data analysis or machine learning a plus.
- Prior experience developing and implementing new test methods required.
- Proficiency in statistical principles/tools and statistics software preferred
- Demonstrated success with experimental design and investigative techniques.
- Ability to own and drive tasks in a project team
- Habitually self-motivated, curious, and failure-seeking. Applies critical big picture thinking in completing tasks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks/fixture design a plus
- Ability to work in a regulated environment requiring compliance to internal procedures
