Job Overview

Lead Production Machine Operator

As a Production LEAD, you will be responsible for maximizing the operating performance of a specific line or technology. In this role, you will be expected to have an in depth understanding of the technical and operational aspects of the line or area. This is a hands-on role that will require you to operate equipment, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and drive continuous improvement across multiple pieces of equipment. Working within a highly automated TPM-based environment, the Production Lead will be expected to execute standardized processes following standard work, perform layered process audits, and facilitate structured problem solving to drive waste out of the system and promote a culture of continuous improvement. Performing Team based environment, you will be looked upon to train, mentor, and guide the work of less experienced operators within your group, ensuring that they understand how to keep themselves and those around them safe as you collectively deliver world class cost, quality, and service performance. As a leader, you will be expected to regularly interact with site leadership to review operating results, communicate status of improvement initiatives and actively participate in plant-wide initiatives.

Shift and Schedule: This position will be working a

12 hr shift schedule working 6-6 on a 2-2-3 schedule.

  • Week 1: Monday Tuesday Friday Saturday
  • Week 2: Sunday Wednesday Thursday

Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, and holidays is required as scheduled. Will train on 1st or 2nd for the first month or so.

Compensation: This role is an hourly position paid on a weekly basis. The pay-rate is $26.86/hour

Responsibilities

  • Safety: Deliver upon the site safety goal of zero injuries by being a role model in communicating, demonstrating and supporting safe behaviors, regularly completing behavioral safety observations, training others on the process, supporting Alchemy requirement, actively participate in safety meetings, own or co-own safety or environmental programs, regularly conduct safety audits and risk reduction initiatives and ensure 100% completion of all safety/regulatory training for you and your team.
  • Quality: Achieve Zero-defect performance and improve the customer experience by understanding and training others on all quality control, Safe Quality Food, Good Manufacturing Practices, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Production: Identify and address equipment and material issues as they occur and partner across maintenance and quality organizations as you leverage the Daily Management System to drive site performance. Lead and/or support cross-functional focused improvement initiatives to streamline material flow and improve equipment efficiency to increase capacity and reduce operating expenses. Include but is not limited to CIL, preventive maintenance, RCCM, and A3 utilization.
  • Lead and sustain TPM-based Production Environment
  • Support and drive the site TPM journey and the various implementations; mentor and teach others in the TPM process.
  • Develop corrective action plans, escalating to support teams as appropriate.
  • Define, review, and drive improvements to standard work for Autonomous (AM) and Preventative (PM) maintenance activities, coordinate and align standards ards between shifts, and perform layered audits to identify and address gaps.
  • Actively participate in various Kaizen activities at the site and assist in line and zone implementations of improvements identified during the events.
  • Lead team meetings at the line VMB boards; leverage Gemba & Root Cause analysis process to escalate and resolve issues.
  • Partner with maintenance on the execution of preventative maintenance, and lead improvement activities on issues that cross team and functional boundaries.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude of CSD processing and packaging machine operations.
  • Minimum High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); two year degree preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience with operation of high-speed production machinery and monitoring of product quality.
  • Mathematical skills to make production calculations and perform loss and waste analysis.
  • Computer and software skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, SAP, etc)
  • Ability to learn, train, and support Subject Matter Expert responsibilities to ensure team members are performing tasks as expected.
  • Ability to spend significant time standing on the manufacturing floor with some frequency of computer work.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 75 pounds frequently without assistance.
