Job description: Job Description Responsible for the installation and operation of the College’s network and telecommunication systems. Manages the College’s ethernet network, firewalls, and associated services to provide data and voice communications Maintains, controls, troubleshoots, and customizes network and telecommunications systems and respective software including operating systems, firewalls, Voice over IP systems, and security systems. Participates in planning, evaluating, implementing, and maintaining the college-wide unified communications systems.

Minimum Base Pay: $54,399.00. All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidate’s education and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides consultation and assistance regarding specific matters within area of expertise.

Collects data and evaluates the performance of data processing systems. Fine tunes systems as required. Resolves system errors or failures. Involves identifying system problems and implementing corrective actions. Tests and upgrades software and hardware.

Researches, evaluates, and recommends changes in hardware, software, data communications and techniques that contribute to more effective automated systems capabilities.

Interacts with vendors, contractors, and other departments to convey technical project requirements.

Maintains various systems and databases. Evaluates, researches, self-study, and develops using new technologies and other technologies

Develops, maintains, and administers the data processing disaster recovery plan. Includes making data and program backups.

Functions in an on-call capacity for response to hardware, software and network systems repair needed during normal business hours or instances where the college is closed.

Develops and administers security for telecommunications equipment, network connections, domain controllers, active directory, and antivirus protection. Includes security for both physical access and software. Applies appropriate security measures for physical access to hardware devices, access to data and programs. Maintains confidentiality of user passwords and security certificates.

Actively participates in inventory control activities of the department by tracking software and hardware assets.

Provides support and technical services to departments, other campuses, off-site locations, and college-based functions that may require travel.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework

Four years related experience, to include experience with voice, data, and firewall platforms

Knowledge of:

Microsoft Office Professional or similar applications

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)system administration and troubleshooting

Domain Name Service (DNS), Network Time Protocol (NTP), Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), and Telecom systems

Unified communications systems administration including E911, queuing, reporting, and contact center components

Skilled in:

Attention to detail while maintaining effective time and task management

Maintaining accurate and detailed documentation of changes and updates

Ability to:

Organize and prioritize multiple, competing priorities to maximize personal and team effectiveness

Maintain and support network configurations of firewalls, wireless, VPN, and other network devices

Manage and install certificates

Effectively communicate verbally and in writing on a regular basis with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

Regular physical attendance required

Valid Florida driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

Associate’s degree

Two plus years hands-on experience with routing, switching, VoIP

Knowledge of:

Microsoft Office 365

Cisco Systems and Checkpoint firewall platforms

Packet level analysis with applicable utility such as Wireshark, TCP Dump etc.

Skilled in:

Azure and VMware networking

Ability to:

Navigate Active Directory

Licenses, Registration, Certifications, or Special Requirements:

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Collaboration, Switch and Route, and Wireless certifications

Work Environment and Physical Demand:

Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing 20 to 49 pounds

Reach and grasp objects

Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl

Stand for extended periods of time

Use of video display terminal

Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skills

Communicate information orally and in writing

Receive and understand information through oral and written communication

Proofread and check documents for accuracy

Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury

Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level, and other conditions

Operate a motor vehicle
