Job description: PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Responsible for the coordination, scheduling and negotiation of traffic for all L&W locations as well as supervising Haggerty Logistics associates. Plays a role in the support of daily plant functions, as assigned. Serves as representative of Transportation to carrier-base, truck drivers, and facilities.
JOB/TASK FUNCTIONS:
The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the supervisor or manager may assign additional duties associated with this position.
- Audit freight classifications
- Works with facilities to coordinate/develop/implement milk-runs to increase efficiency
- Communicates with known carriers to negotiate/develop standard rates
- Responsible for expanding carrier-base to create rate/load competition
- Responsible for supervising Haggerty Logistics truck drivers, temp truck drivers reporting to Haggerty Logistics, and applicable training of associates
- Responsible for using established milk-runs and daily route schedules to maximize usage of all Haggerty Logistics equipment, as well as to determine justification if additional equipment is needed
- Covers dispatch area of Transportation when coverage is needed
- Knowledge of IFTA, ISF Forms, Customs IB/OB, and NAFTA
- Works with Program Management, Sales, Purchasing, and other departments to arrange/process International Shipments, freight quotes, and what-if scenarios.
- Works with Director of MP&L to identify and implement both continuous improvement projects and cost saves
- Responsible for ensuring all D.O.T. and FMCSA guidelines are met, notifying Director of MP&L of issues, and presenting solution to potential problems
- Responsible for ensuring licenses, permits, inspections, certifications, and PM requirements are up-to-date

Technical Skills:

- Ability to effectively use internet websites for shipping information
- This position requires a typing speed of 45 words per minute.
- Must have knowledge of all applicable state and federal regulations pertaining to interstate truckload transportation, DOT guidelines, FMCSA requirements
- Must be familiar with Haggerty Logistics Driver Manual
Required Experience
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five years plus related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid and current driver’s license with an acceptable record including the ability to operate company vehicles
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with minimum “B” endorsement
- Maintain valid and current Forklift Operators Permit
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Business Judgment:
Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures in a professional and consistent manner. Able to apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in routine business situations with supervisor, co-workers and customers. Expected salary: $90000 – 100000 per year
