Barnhart Crane and Rigging Company is seeking a Transportation Department Manager
Responsibilities:
- Identify and create strategic carrier relationships based upon capabilities and regional needs
- Required communication across all levels, from truck and equipment operators to senior level leaders
- Implement positive operational processes, using data driven information to maintain a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Leadership role guiding department staff in all facets of DOT Compliance IE; IRP, IFTA, Drug & Alcohol Screening, FMCSA Regulations, etc.
- Manage performance of Logistics Dept staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures while focusing on continuous improvement
- Act as liaison between carriers, company operations, sales and other support teams
- Select, develop, recognize, and support an effective and efficient staff
- Communicate proactively with dept. personnel, ensuring prompt and accurate service is provided to both, internal and external customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in business or a related field (e.g., Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years experience in direct leadership of a Logistics Operation and use of management tools and methodologies
- Experience supervising, evaluating, mentoring, managing staff workload, while encouraging and recognizing teamwork.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willing to manage with a “Servant Leadership” approach to dept staff.
- Working knowledge / experience with OTR trucking operation
- Knowledge of DOT, FMCSA Regulations
