Job description: Job Summary:
The Telecommunications Field Service Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of telecommunication systems and equipment. This position involves on-site visits to various client locations, where the technician will install, repair, upgrade, and maintain a wide range of telecommunications infrastructure and services. The technician will interact directly with clients, providing technical support, addressing issues, and ensuring a seamless communication experience.
Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
- Install, configure, and test telecommunication equipment such as routers, switches, modems, telephone systems, and VoIP devices at client sites.
- Ensure proper cabling and wiring connections for optimal signal transmission.
- Collaborate with clients to determine equipment requirements and provide recommendations for system upgrades.
Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform regular maintenance checks on existing telecommunications systems to identify and address potential issues proactively.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network, hardware, and software problems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Replace faulty components and parts as needed, adhering to quality standards.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to clients on telecommunications-related inquiries and concerns.
- Assist customers in resolving connectivity, network configuration, and service-related problems.
- Educate clients on proper equipment usage and best practices to optimize system performance.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of service visits, repairs, installations, and equipment configurations.
- Document troubleshooting steps, solutions implemented, and outcomes for future reference.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations while working on client premises.
- Follow company guidelines for handling sensitive data and maintaining data privacy.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their needs and expectations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to provide feedback on common issues and potential improvements.
Training and Development:
- Stay updated with the latest developments in telecommunications technology and industry trends.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
Expected salary: $15 – 25 per hour
