KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Maintenance of Radiation Therapy Standards of Practice
- Manage the department’s adherence to Radiation Therapy Standards of Practice as outlined by ARRT/ASRT across all locations.
- Coordinate operational activities across department, section, and discipline components related to Therapy practice.
- Interprets, executes and provides input into the development of policies and procedures for Therapy services.
- Advance the quality of sectional practice to promote an environment of safety and regulatory compliance.
- Supports and ensures progressive transition/implementation of new radiation and imaging oncology services and technologies throughout the practice
2. Management of Cancer Network Initiatives
- Provide leadership in Division operations through collaborative interaction with matrix management across established partner sites and affiliates.
- Serve as content expert and liaison of Therapy practice for partner/affiliate sites.
- Provide direct observation and evaluation of therapy practice via site visits and participation in network meetings.
- Promote an interdisciplinary approach to new technology implementation initiatives.
- Collaboration with sites on process improvement/knowledge-sharing opportunities.
- Provide constructive feedback regarding observation outcomes
- Facilitate team engagement while fostering a positive open communicative environment
- Monitor compliance with institutional standards and external accrediting agency standards

3. Provide administrative leadership related to accreditation and inspection
- Formulate and institute improvement pathways in the clinical environment as they pertain to sectional operations.
- Ensure maintenance of regulatory compliance and adherence with all regulatory bodies including but not limited to JC and CMS.
- Collaboration with the Director and other hospital leaders to ensure operations are strategically aligned with the mission, vision, and values of MD Anderson Cancer Center.
- Effective assessment and evaluation of sectional staff.
4. Communication skills
- Demonstrate written and oral skills to effectively communicate with direct and indirect reports, peers, customers, superiors, and faculty.
- Display active listening skills that convey receptiveness and willingness to consider varying viewpoints and positions.
5. Effectively lead multidisciplinary initiatives/projects
- Provide effective and efficient leadership of sectional and multi-sectional clinical initiatives that support the strategic direction of the division.
- Collaboratively engage divisional institutional teams toward the completion of assigned projects and tasks.
- Facilitate attainment of expected outcomes of assigned tasks.
General Manager Responsibilities
- Enter and transmit data to computers via keyboard and mouse, views data visually on the monitor screen and in printed format
- Participate in meetings, communicating verbally and in writing
- Travel by commercial carriers outside the institution
- Walk distances within the institution and between campus buildings and stands for long periods of time in the course of daily business
- Synthesize information and communicate instructions clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Communicate using telecommunication equipment
